Quake Pulse Activity Index · M4.5+Seismic activity intelligence
Compare current M4.5+ earthquake activity with a comparable historical baseline. Quake Pulse uses percentiles and rolling monthly medians to describe activity without predicting future earthquakes.
Quake Pulse Activity IndexGlobal comparable activity
A high index means recent activity is high relative to the selected historical baseline. It does not mean that a larger earthquake is about to occur.

How the index works
The comparable series uses M4.5+ events because historical detection of smaller earthquakes is less consistent. The score is the percentile rank of the latest 30-day count against up to 60 completed historical months. It is a descriptive indicator, not a forecast.
A high index means recent activity is high relative to the selected historical baseline. It does not mean that a larger earthquake is about to occur.
